WSCC have notified us of the temporary closure of footpath 325 see attached plan for precise location.
The closure commenced on 25th April for 15 days and then will remain in place for a further six months. The closure is necessary to protect public safety due to a recent risk assessment by Network Rail in relation to rail running procedures at the footpath crossing.
The additional closure period will enable Network Rail to go through their procedures to change the rail running protocol in that area to make the crossing safer. The sightlines are too short along the track, with some trains travelling at speed one way, when trains get held on a red signal coming into Barnham station, making the crossing unsafe. For further information please call the Network Rail helpline 0345 114141.
