From April 2026, we will start collecting food waste every week, as required by law.
At the same time, general waste collections will move to every two weeks to help standardise services and reduce waste.
Free 180L black wheeled bins for general waste have now started to be delivered to every household. You can start using your new bin straight away – or keep it until the new schedule begins.
You can keep your old bin and repurpose it for storing tools or another use, or we can collect and recycle it free of charge.
If you live in a flat or communal property, we will be in touch about your arrangements.

Arun District Council is creating a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) with the support of Ethos consultants to improve safety and ease of movement in the district.
This includes walking, cycling, and wheeling (wheelchairs, mobility scooters, pushchairs, or other non-motorised wheeled aids).
In short, an LCWIP is a long-term plan that identifies where improvements are needed to support active travel and would be supported.
We are asking Arun residents to complete a brief survey so we can better understand the daily experiences and challenges you may have relating to walking, mobility assistance, cycling, and equestrian use, particularly in rural areas. Resident feedback will inform the LCWIP before proposing routes and priorities.

More than 145 tonnes of waste material washed ashore around West Sussex over the last few weeks has now been collected and disposed of.
The major clean-up operation continues to recover debris including organic materials, metals, plastics and container parts that came from cargo ships off the coast in December and January.
The operation is led and co-ordinated by West Sussex County Council, Arun District Council and Chichester District Council together with partners.
Our priorities remain public safety and protecting the environment and the work continues right across the county’s coastline.

Earlier this month, Arun District Council confirmed its commitment to the successful reopening and long-term operation of the Alexandra Theatre in Bognor Regis, following Full Council approval of a package of financial support for its future operators.
At the heart of this renewed vision is a supportive working relationship between Arun Arts – the long-standing, community-led organisation that has successfully operated the theatre for many years – and The Guildhall Trust.
Under a collaborative support arrangement, The Guildhall Trust will provide specialist operational and programming expertise, drawing on its strong track record of delivering high-quality venues and cultural programmes in Portsmouth, Hastings and across the South.
