All Parish Council volunteers are required to follow the following rules:
Do not endanger yourself or other people at any time.
Do not attempt any action that is beyond your normal competence. Ask for help rather than push beyond your capabilities- Know when to say “No”
Use all possible PPE and safe practice.
Attend training provided by Council or outside agencies..
Never act alone. Always have a mate with you.
Communicate with the “Controller/Co-ordinator”- where you are and what you are doing.
Assess any potential danger to yourself or other person and take appropriate action to avoid any risk of harm.
You are a community volunteer, so make this clear to all you deal with. Do not accept abuse or intimidation, walk away and ask for advice and support from the Co-ordinator.
Be aware that some people may have medical or mental conditions that require careful handling. If in any doubt, ask for help. Do not get yourself into a situation where you are at risk - whether physical, psychological or legal.
Vulnerable people and children should be wherever possible dealt with by volunteers with appropriate DBS checks (e.g. at the halls).
